The cumulative number of global COVID-19 cases had exceeded 360.5 million, with the death toll surpassing 5.62 million, as of Thursday, according to the latest data released by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Specifically, there had been 360,578,392 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 5,620,865 deaths, as of 16:37 Central European Time (CET) on Thursday, according to the WHO.
A total of 9,679,721,754 vaccine doses had been administered as of Jan. 25, according to the WHO.
The cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States exceeded 73.39 million as of Thursday, with the death toll surpassing 878,000, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
Specifically, the countrys case count rose to 73,397,025 and the death toll reached 878,325 as of 19:21 Eastern Standard Time (EST) Thursday.
A total of 533,570,351 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, according to the CSSE tally.
In the past 24 hours, the United Kingdom recorded 96,871 new infections, taking the countrys total caseload to 16,245,474.
Another 338 deaths were also reported. Therefore, a total of 155,040 people died from the virus within 28 days after testing positive.
Based on the statistics released by Italys health department, the country reported 155,697 confirmed cases on Thursday, raising the total to 10,539,601.
In addition, 389 deaths were newly registered, with total death toll reaching 145,159.
Russia recorded 88,816 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the highest daily increase to date, taking the nationwide tally to 11,404,617, the official monitoring and response center said Thursday.
The countrys nationwide death toll increased by 665 to a total of 328,770, while the number of recoveries increased by 29,754 to 10,129,691.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russias worst-hit region, reported 26,586 new cases, taking its total to 2,259,422.
Indias COVID-19 tally rose to 40,371,500 on Thursday, with 286,384 new confirmed cases registered during the past 24 hours, its health ministrys latest data showed.
Besides, 573 more deaths reported due to the pandemic since Wednesday morning took the total death toll to 491,700.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), the country reported 16,096 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the past 24 hours, raising the total number of infections to 793,582.
Twenty-four more deaths were confirmed from the pandemic, bringing the death toll to 6,678. The total fatality rate was 0.84 percent.
